General Summary:

 The Cloud Operations team provides 24x7x365 support for all Company SaaS & Hosting customers globally. This business unit is responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the cloud operations environment including the uptime, performance and high availability of all customer supporting systems inside of the SaaS & Hosted environments. The SaaS & hosted ecosystem is comprised of multi-tiered applications, microservice architectures, containers & virtual servers as well as large & complex multi[1]terabyte SQL database systems. The Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation & management of key infrastructure & application systems including Active Directory, OS Patching, Repositories, SW management systems, DNS, and other centralized shared services that will need to be implemented in support of customer systems across private and public cloud environments including AWS.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of globally distributed Infrastructure Engineers to architect and implement a scalable and standardized solutions for hosting Company applications in private and public cloud environments

• Responsible for implementing the platform systems and overseeing the effective day to day management such as patching of all systems, software management, AD management, GPOs etc

• Responsible for establishing, maintaining and improving the cloud SaaS architecture in AWS in alignment with business and financial objectives

• Responsible for driving cost optimization across the infrastructure from platform systems through AWS infrastructure to maximize gross margin for the SaaS business

• Mentor and coach team members to achieve necessary outcomes and grow their skillsets • Create a culture of continuous improvement in alignment with business requirements and KPIs

• Responsible for working with SREs & Developers to appropriately design solutions and establish architecture standards that can ultimately be automated

• Work with SREs to build a CMDB framework and related design patterns to allow for Infrastructure-as-code provisioning at the infrastructure & platform level

• Partake in a rotation providing incident and request handling support, identifying improvement opportunities where automation or rearchitecting of solutions can improve overall outcomes and reduce toil.

• Will serve as a primary infrastructure engineer for the cloud operations team on major projects inside of private and public cloud environments including AWS

• Responsible for training SRE team members, technical support staff and application development staff on infrastructure and platform tooling, standards and lifecycle processes Professional Skills & Abilities

• Awareness of emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and technology

 

Technical Skills & Experience

• 18+ years of experience in job specific skills.

• 8+ years of experience in scalable infrastructure and platforms architecture, implementation, and management including Active Directory, OS Patching, Software Management, Repositories, backups and other infrastructure services

• 8+ years of experience in scalable application and database engineering & architecture

• 5+ years of AWS infrastructure EC2 & PaaS experience

• 3+ years of experience in script development in python or powershell related to infrastructure lifecycle management

• Networking and information security skills are desirable.

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
